CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Resort Association says it continues to support a broad-based tax plan to meet the growing needs of the state.

The board of directors of the association of major hotels met in Las Vegas for its monthly private meeting Wednesday to consider a number of issues before the Nevada Legislature.

"The NRA will continue to support a comprehensive, broad-based tax plan, one which includes gaming, to meet the growing needs of our state," said the group's president, Bill Bible, in a statement issued after the meeting.

The gambling industry does not want to be singled out as the only business getting hit with a tax from the Legislature.

The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and other businesses have led the fight against any tax this session. Instead they suggest the issue should be studied for the next two years.

At this point, there are only a few lawmakers who are talking about imposing any tax. And the session ends in 26 days.
