UNLV faculty honored

Awards were given to 11 UNLV faculty members recently for their contributions to academics.
The 2001 UNLV Distinguished Teaching Awards were presented to Mark Guadagnoli, associate professor of kinesiology; Deborah Arteaga, associate professor of foreign languages and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts; Michael Lugering, associate professor of theater; Patricia Steubing, clinical assistant professor of biological sciences; and Doug Orton, assistant professor of management.
Steven Parker, an associate professor of political science who has been at UNLV since 1979, received the 2001 Alex G. and Faye Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award.
Marta Meana, an assistant professor of psychology, was selected by her colleagues as the recipient of the 2001 Nevada Regents' Teaching Award.
UNLV's Urban Affairs College recognized four professors for their separate contributions to research, teaching or service. Winners of the outstanding research award were Hong Lu, assistant professor in the criminal justice department, and An Pyng Sun, assistant professor in the School of Social Work.
The outstanding teaching award went to Terance Miethe, professor of criminal justice, and the outstanding service award was given to Patricia Markos, assistant professor in the counseling department.
