Rick Alexander

Rick Alexander, 46, of Logandale and Overton, died Thursday in Santa Monica, Calif. He was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio. A former Las Vegas resident for many years, he had a love for animals and rodeos, enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to help children with their livestock at the fair. He was involved in 4-H, later in Future Farmers of America and was a member of the Dixie College Rodeo Team and the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; one son, Bradley, and four daughters, Kristen, Trisha, Carly and Reagan, all of Overton; his parents, Wayne and Ann Alexander, and one brother, Kevin, all of Las Vegas.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Burial will be in Logandale Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.

The family suggests donations to Metcalf Mortuary, 5090 N. Highway 169, Logandale, to assist in the cost of funeral expenses.

Marion 'Jay' Baker

Marion "Jay" Baker, 67, of Indian Springs died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Madison, Ind. A resident for 18 years, he was an electrical contractor and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Joel Baker of Las Vegas, John Baker of Riverside, Calif., and Jerry Baker of Corona Del Mar, Calif.; one brother, Harvey Baker of Madison, Ind.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be 11:15 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Dalton Theodore Bernard

Dalton Theodore Bernard, 74, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Chicago. A resident for one year, he was a retired Army cryptology specialist and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Marine Corps and Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jong Ok; four daughters, Laura Bernard Loftsgaarden, Julia Teresa Bernard Scruggs Davis, Lynne Bernard Angione and Diana Jan Bernard, all of Los Angeles; one brother, Earl Fredrick Sr. of Chicago; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9:30-11:30 a.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Philip Joseph Boyle

Philip Joseph Boyle, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 31, 1915, in Hazelton, Pa. A resident for three years, he was a retired Catholic priest.

He is survived by one son, Michael Boyle of Woodland Hills, Calif.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in California. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Melanie Brantley

Melanie Brantley, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Denver. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Heather Brantley of Las Vegas; one brother, Jim Link of Paonia, Colo.; and one sister, Linda Hamilton of Littleton, Colo.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Irene Bullard

Irene Bullard, 98, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 27, 1902, in the Bahamas. A resident for 22 years, she was a housekeeper.

She is survived by one son, Prince Bullard; two brothers, Eric Sands and Willie Sands; and three grandchildren.

Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling private arrangements.

Rachel A. Dryden

Rachel A. Dryden, 94, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 7, 1907, in Brookfield, Mo. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna R. Hushaw of Boulder City and Karen L. Woy of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charles Edward Duquette

Charles Edward Duquette, 64, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 18, 1936, in Plattsburgh, N.Y. A resident for seven years, he was a private investment broker.

He is survived by one son, Daniel Duquette of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Kere D. Shook of Torrance, Calif., Kelly Gay of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Kim Ward of Lake Forest, Calif.; and four brothers, Joe Duquette of Maine, Bernard Duquette of Anaheim, Calif., Bruce Duquette of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Norman Duquette of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Helen L. Fisher

Helen L. Fisher, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born March 23, 1918, in St. Joseph, Mo. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Victoria Rector of Las Vegas and Mary Koehn of Arlington, Texas; three sons, Steven Fisher of San Jose, Calif., Charles Fisher of Wisdom, Mont., and Paul Fisher of Las Vegas; one brother, Gerald Murphy of St. Joseph, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Helen Gallego

Helen Gallego, 56, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Santa Cruz, Calif. A resident for five years, she was a nurse's aide.

She is survived by her husband, Gale Wayne; two sons, Kendall Morris and Wayne Morris, one daughter, Rozalyn Ekas, and one sister, Judy Reaves, all of California; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Gallego of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Russell E. Graybeal Sr.

Russell E. Graybeal Sr., 63, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Mountain City, Tenn. A resident for 39 years, he was the owner of a trucking company and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Taylor and Julia Graybeal, and two sons, Russell Graybeal Jr. and Stephen Graybeal, all of Las Vegas; his companion, Marilyn Williams of North Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

William Guidry

William Guidry, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Leroy, La. A resident for 10 years, he was a plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two brothers, Howard Guidry of Abbeville, La., and Paul Guidry of Houston; and one sister, Aline Patterson of San Diego.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Kenneth E. Javier

Kenneth E. Javier, 24, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 9, 1976, in Virginia. A resident for many years, he was a car dealer.

He is survived by his father, Eugene Javier of Henderson.

Tom Lancaster

Tom Lancaster, 82, of Carson City died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Village of Glen, Okla. A resident of Las Vegas for one year, he was a tool and die maker and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Diana Monach-Hones of Henderson; one son, Thomas D. Lancaster II of Gardnerville; one brother, Charles Lancaster of Colfax, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marie B. Marino

Marie B. Marino, 70, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired laborer.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Helen M. Messmer

Helen M. Messmer, 77, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born April 21, 1924, in St. Louis. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker, member of the Women of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church group and the Crafter's Group.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn E. Messmer Reinschmidt of Dittmer, Mo.; one son, Nick J. Messmer of St. Louis; two sisters, May A. Windisch of Las Vegas and Kevyn Lutton of San Francisco; four brothers, Gene DeRuntz, James DeRuntz and Lonnie DeRuntz, all of Granite City, Ill., and Robert DeRuntz of Las Vegas; and her aunt, Alice Tobinka of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave.

Lydia L. Shaflas

Lydia L. Shaflas, 90, of Pahrump died Monday in Pahrump. A registered nurse, she was born July 4, 1910, in Wisconsin.

She is survived by three sisters, Clarice Linstroth of Pahrump, Joyce Taylor of Tennessee and Velma Holloway of Wisconsin.

Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. today in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 2240 E. Calvada Blvd. Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Chief Tecopa Cemetery.

Francis Tonkin Jr.

Francis Tonkin Jr., 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Whitehall, Mont. A resident for one year, he was an insurance salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and two daughters, Jeannie Doneza and Delilah Garrison, all of Montana.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Marcus Whitfield

Marcus Whitfield, 24, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A veteran, he was born Aug. 19, 1976, in Chicago.

He is survived by his father, David Whitfield of California; his mother, Mattie White, and one son, Siraaron Whitfield, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Martin Whitfield of Las Vegas and Kevin Whitfield of Illinois; and one sister, Valencia Brown of Illinois.

Services were scheduled 2-4 p.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
