Annual auction planned Oct. 13
The Nevada Association of the Handicapped, a nonprofit organization seving the disabled community in Southern Nevada, is accepting potential playhouse builders for its seventh annual "Playhouse 2001 Goes Under the Sea" dinner and auction Oct. 13 at the Mirage.
Individuals and companies are encouraged to build a playhouse, which will be auctioned off to raise money for disabled persons. For more information, call 433-4331.
The Nevada Disability Advocacy and Law Center
will honor eight individuals for their efforts in promoting the rights of disabled persons throughout Nevada in its first Advocacy Awards ceremony Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sahara West Library and Fine Arts Museum, 9002 W. Sahara Ave. For more information, call: (775) 333-7878.
The Nevada Seniors Coalition
will hold a public meeting to discuss senior issues Friday at 10 a.m. at Castaways hotel (formerly the Showboat), 2800 E. Fremont St. Mike Plumer, a full-time lobbyist from Washington, D.C., will be the guest speaker. To reserve a seat, call: 477-6859.
