Boyfriend of slain woman sought

Wednesday, May 9, 2001 | 10:47 a.m.

Metro Police are searching for the boyfriend of a Los Angeles woman found slain inside a closet of a Las Vegas apartment Tuesday.

A Las Vegas woman said she met the California couple Monday in the downtown area and offered them a place to stay in her apartment in the 6000 block of West Washington Avenue, said Lt. Wayne Petersen of Metro's homicide unit.

The Las Vegas resident said she left the apartment when the couple started arguing, and when she returned, the man was leaving and said his girlfriend went for a walk, Petersen said.

The apartment resident found the woman dead on the floor in a closet from apparent gunshot wounds. The name of the woman was not released this morning, pending positive identification and notification of her family.

Police are searching for the slain woman's boyfriend. His first name is believed to be Jason. He was described as black, in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches, about 180 pounds with a shaved head. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro homicide detectives at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
