Care takes over as chairman
State Sen. Terry Care surprised even himself by agreeing to take the reins of the state Democratic Party.
Care, D-Las Vegas, who was first elected in 1998, said he didn't even use the Democratic Party's organizational structure during his first run for office.
But now the attorney sees an opportunity to link the party's organization skills to candidates seeking a variety of offices.
Care was named chairman during a meeting of the party in Tonopah. He replaces Rory Reid, son of U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, who decided not to seek a second term as chairman of the party.
