WMS Industries Inc. announced today it plans to introduce a slot machine based on the hit TV series "Survivor" within a year.
Chicago-based WMS received North American licensing rights to Survivor from CBS Consumer Products, a division of CBS Enterprises. The game will be the first produced in a joint venture between WMS and International Game Technology of Reno. The slot should be submitted to state gaming regulators for approval within nine months, WMS said.
WMS will design and market the slot machine, while IGT will manufacture the machines and place them on its "MegaJackpots" wide-area progressive jackpot network. This will make the Survivor game the first WMS slot machine to offer a wide-area progressive jackpot.
"Survivor's incredible broad-based appeal, coupled with different bonusing and jackpots that are available through IGT's MegaJackpots system, should prove to be a major attraction for casino patrons," said Brian Gamache, WMS president and chief operating officer.
