John Bergeson, a 51-year-old Wyoming resident, reeled in the first tagged fish on the first day of a million-dollar fishing contest on Lake Powell. He won a Tracker Nitro NX 882 bass boat and a 115-horsepower Mercury Outboard, valued at more than $18,000.
Twenty-five striped bass were tagged with one specially numbered and designated as the million-dollar fish.
It was estimated that 1,000 anglers and wanna-be millionaires had registered for the contest, which runs for 24 days.
