NLV council backs off car-dealer Sunday rule

A lack of new car dealerships in North Las Vegas prompted the City Council Tuesday night to withdraw a resolution that would require dealerships to be closed Sundays.
City staff told the council that they knew of only one business that would be affected by the resolution, a commercial truck dealership that may not even be open Sundays.
Councilwoman Stephanie Smith suggested to withdrawing the resolution. She said the council could revisit the issue when there is something to regulate.
The County Commission recently passed a similar law to prohibit new-car dealerships from conducting business on Sundays.
Also, the council approved an ordinance that formalized all previous action and allows for the levy and collection of special assessments on property surrounding the Craig Road widening project, set to begin later this year.
