Pilots at Delta Air Lines will begin voting on a new five-year contract with the carrier after their union's leadership approved the tentative agreement.
The 18-4 vote Wednesday by Delta's master executive council, a division of the Air Line Pilots Association, forwards the contract for a decision by the carriers 9,800 pilots.
Separately, America West Airlines said it wants a federal mediator to join the company's stalled contract negotiations with pilots.
The airline and pilots union began negotiating in February 2000 and have continued talking quietly since then without success.
