UMC facility opens to public
UMC's new Family Resource Center officially opened to the public Wednesday. The center provides free community services to help couples prepare for parenthood.
The services are divided into three programs, Bright Beginnings, Baby Steps and Family to Family Connection, that educate would-be parents on health pregnancy, infant care and parenting. For more information, call 671-6519.
Volunteers needed by CAAR
Community Action Against Rape is in need of volunteers for the hotline, speakers' bureau and court monitor program.
People interested in assisting others should contact the CAAR office at 385-2153.
The next Volunteer Crisis Intervention Counselor Training will be June 4-28. The 50-hour training class will prepare volunteers to help victims of sexual violence during crisis and afterward.
All applicants will be interviewed and screened prior to acceptance. Interviews will be conducted May 14-25.
CAAR holds the Volunteer Crisis Intervention Training Classes three times a year in February, June and October.
