Letter: Shift of funding has consequences

The Nevada Legislature is considering legislation, Assembly Bill 457, which would take approximately $65 million of DMV tax dollars away from Southern Nevada to give teachers a pay raise.
Clark County has told the Legislature that this bill will result in layoffs and a loss in county services.
That's fair. Teachers all over the state will see aa 4 percent increase in their salaries, but the students they see in their classrooms in Southern Nevada, whose parents are left without their county jobs, will likely be hungry and a little colder during the winter.
It seems like the state Legislature will have a bigger problem on its hands if AB457 passes.
