Annual 5K, fun run set Saturday
The Candlelighters will present the 11th annual 5K and 1-mile fun run starting 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Cashman Field, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Cost for advance registration is $13 per person for the 1-mile (noncompetitive) event and $17 per person for the 5K race. On the day of the event, it will cost $30 for all participants. The Mail-in deadline is Friday. Walk-in registration will be at Cashman Field. For more information, call 386-7200.
Play scheduled at Summerlin Library
"And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson," a haunting story of a girl crippled by polio at birth, will be performed Thursday and Friday in the Summerlin Library Theater, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
The presentation is a fund-raiser for the purpose of helping to fund the performance of the play at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Neb.
Cost for the public is $10. The Friday performance will feature a catered reception, major door prizes including meals and tickets to major shows on the Strip and a talk session with the cast and directors following the performance.
Tickets are $25. All seats are general admission. Tickets may be reserved by calling 799-7859.
Cinco De Mayo
will be celebrated 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the North Las Vegas Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St. Admission is free. For more information, call Rosa at 633-1600.
