Story: Four explosions leveled a Henderson-based rocket fuel plant Wednesday, killing at least one person, injuring scores of others, knocking out windows and doors miles away and sending a dark toxic cloud over the southeast end of the Las Vegas Valley.
The body of an unidentified male was found near the plant at 8 p.m., several hours after the jarring blasts ripped through the Pacific Engineering Co.
June 5: Charles Vanda, longtime LV cultural leader, dies
Story: Charles Vanda, 85, the founder of KVVU TV-5 in Henderson and a longtime director of concert hall programming at UNLV, died Saturday.
July 1: Drought '88 puts damper on 4th of July
Story: The "Great Drought of '88" began to intrude on the nation's celebration of its independence Thursday, canceling hundreds of weekend fireworks displays and even some outdoor barbecues because the fire danger is too great.
