Efurd to give talk today

Laura Efurd, former deputy director for the White House Office of Public Liaison, will share her personal experiences working in the East Wing at a lecture at 7 p.m. today at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

As a White House official and as a native of Hawaii, Efurd focused her efforts on initiatives for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

A reception will be held following the presentation. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 642-9500.

Program scheduled at CCSN Thursday

The third annual Employ-Ability Job Fair will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at Community College of Southern Nevada, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd.

Southern Nevada employers will be accepting applications and some will be conducting on-the-spot interviews.

The event is orchestrated by the Public Information Education committee, a group of area professionals dedicated to assisting people with disabilities and special needs to enter or re-enter the work force.

Rotary sponsors library event

The Northwest Las Vegas Rotary is sponsoring two free "Family Reading" activities Tuesday at Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.

The one-hour storytelling sessions will be at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Each session will include two stories and appearances by Summerlin Sam, the mascot of the Summerlin community, and Billy Bob the Bobcat from the Discovery Channel. Free refreshments will be provided.

The program is part of a nationwide literacy effort supported by Rotary International.

Young children to participate

The Jewish Community Center's Early Childhood Passover Program will begin 10 a.m. Monday at the center, 3909 S. Maryland Parkway.

Children to age 5 are invited to experience the Passover holiday activities. The program will include arts and crafts, a Passover story, a Passover dessert treat and music.

This event will cost $5 per child for JCC members and $8 for nonmembers. Registration is required by Friday. Sign up by calling 794-0090, or email Nancy at nancyw@jccsn.org.
