Role Model awards go to seven women

Seven women have been honored with the Nevada Women's Role Model award for various contributions to the community.

Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa presented the awards at UNLV on Friday.

Award recipients are:

Kathleen Boutin, Clark County Health District special projects coordinator, who organized Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

Doris Femenella, Henderson community activist, who helped establish the Green Valley Community Association.

Mary Hausch, a UNLV assistant professor in communications, who founded UNLV Women's Sports Foundation and continues to mentor journalism students.

Anita Laruy, North Las Vegas Library District director, improved library resources and services for the community through her campaign efforts.

Johnnie Rawlinson, 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals associate justice, served as the first black woman in the 9th Circuit.

Gene Segerblom, former assemblywoman from Boulder City, supported a strong educational environment by consistently voting for school improvements.

Mary Vail, publicist, motivated her clients to participate in various charities.
