Gilbert Lee Anderson

Gilbert Lee Anderson, 44, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 31, 1956, in Phoenix. A resident for 25 years, he was a health care worker.

He is survived by three daughters, Lamika Anderson of Texas and Laqucatia Anderson and Lashonda Anderson, both of Las Vegas; one son, Marcus Anderson, his fiancee, Debra Newman, one sister, Julia Harris, two brothers, Dwayne Sanford and Chancey Anderson, and his grandmother, Ruby Greathouse, all of Las Vegas.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Harold J. Burgeson

Harold J. Burgeson, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Michigan. A resident for nine years, he was a quality assurance control director for NASA and the Department of Defense, an Army veteran, a member of the Boy Scouts and Officers Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lani; three sons, Tim Burgeson of Romeo, Mich., Mark Burgeson of Athens, Ala., and Frederick Burgeson of Las Vegas; five daughters, Mai Haddix and Michelle Burgeson, both of Las Vegas, Janice Pakosz and Sandra Morgan, both of Standish, Mich., and Jo Ellen Walt of Virginia; one sister, Shirley Rosinski; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Tuesday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Elizabeth Ann Carano

Elizabeth Ann Carano, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born March 7, 1927, in Tekonsha, Mich. A resident for 14 years, she was a member of the Elks.

She is survived by five sons, Gerald Gary Terflinger of Baldwin Park, Calif., Richard Terflinger of Crescent City, Calif., Terrance Terflinger and Mike Terflinger, both of Layton, Utah, and Charles Terflinger of Mira Loma, Calif.; one daughter, Sherry Terflinger of Henderson; and 17 grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Genevieve Rogers Carlson

Genevieve Rogers Carlson, 93, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 20, 1908, in Farmington, Utah. A resident for 22 years, she was a seamstress for Magie Re-Weaving Co. in Salt Lake City.

She is survived by two daughters, Alice Deane Long and Charlene Stefan, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Russell Rogers of Pocatello, Idaho, and Spencer Rogers of Preston, Idaho; one sister, Adele Rogers of Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Gary Wayne Fedalizo

Gary Wayne Fedalizo, 51, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 14, 1950, in Puunene, Hawaii. A resident for 13 years, he was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by three sisters, Rosemarie Dangio and Winifred Blancaelor, both of Aiea, Hawaii, and Leilani Fick of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Frank J. Filler

Frank J. Filler, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local health care center. He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline; three sons, Bill Filler of Palo Alto, Calif., Thomas Filler of Battlefield, Wash., and James Filler of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cynthia McCoy of LaVerne, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Diane James Jackson

Diane James Jackson, 46, of North Las Vegas died March 19 in North Las Vegas. She was born May 29, 1954, in Monroe, La. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her companion, James Washington; seven sons, Patrick Anderson, Christopher Washington, Antoino Washington, James Washington Jr., Freddie Jackson, Tony Jackson and Derrick Jackson; and three daughters, Jessica Lynn Jackson, Monique Jackson and Tasha Anderson.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Calvary Baptist Church, 317 W. Madison St. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Charles Kirk

Charles Kirk, 38, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 13, 1963, in San Jose, Calif. A resident for four years, he was a general contractor for a Mount Charleston developer.

He is survived by his parents, both of San Diego; one brother, Randy of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and his grandmother, Delores Campbell.

Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. today in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Burial will be in San Jose.

Jewel Texanna McElroy

Jewel Texanna McElroy, 86, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born July 19, 1914, in Dallas. A resident for 16 years, she worked for the Dallas Times Herald and then retired from the city of Dallas Water District.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Leland McElroy of Dallas; two daughters, Shirley Veach of Las Vegas and Gerry Blanche McElroy of Oklahoma City; one brother, Robert Darnall of Texas; three sisters, Mary Flannery and Myrtle Murray, both of Dallas, and Sally Piland of Texas; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Patricia Mathews Safbom

Patricia Mathews Safbom, 72, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Willowbrook, Calif. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D.; two sons, Brock Safbom and Daniel Safbom, and two daughters, Stacy Safbom and Lindsey Safbom, all of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4601 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Olga Sommers

Olga Sommers, 88, of Henderson died Thursday in Henderson. She was born Sept. 29, 1912, in Loogootee, Ind. A resident for 44 years, she was a retired fourth grade schoolteacher at C.T. Sewell Elementary and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Sommers of Henderson and Barbara Richey of Knightsville, Ind.; two sons, Robert Sommers and Richard Sommers, both of Henderson; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Robert G. Spirakes

Robert G. Spirakes, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A teacher for 32 years in Illinois and an Army veteran, he was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Chicago.

He is survived by one son, Frank Lin of Las Vegas ; six brothers, Jack Spirakes, Jim Spirakes, Beau Spirakes, Ronnie Spirakes and Steve Spirakes, all of Chicago and Jerry Spirakes of Sacramento; two sisters, Virginia Heide and Sharon Cookie Pastrick, both of Chicago.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. today with 6:30 p.m. services in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Lyle L. Weicht

Lyle L. Weicht, 77, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Marcus, Iowa. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired Air Force chief master sergeant and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Jeaninne Hilsabeck of Las Vegas and Brenda Brown of North Las Vegas; one son, Byron Weicht of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Theda Olson of LaMars, Iowa, and Karen Green of Sioux City, Iowa; four brothers, Darrell Weicht of Kelso, Wash., Maurice Weicht of Omaha, Neb., Harry Weicht of Madison, Wis., and David Weicht of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Main. Graveside services at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, are pending.

Helen Marie Zehnder

Helen Marie Zehnder, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 7, 1916, in Ferndale, Wash. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Daniel Zehnder, and one daughter, Susan McEwan, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
