"Children of Eden"

Artificial world

Under the direction of Henryk Baranowski, UNLV's University Theatre presents Jean Genet's "The Balcony," a story of ambiguity and sexuality in a city aflame with revolution, at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Judy Bayley Theatre. Rockappella

Competition

The Second Piano Concerto Competition, featuring a competition open to pianists ages 6-21, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada's Recital Hall, Room 1430, on the Cheyenne campus. Admission is free.

Outdoor ambience

The West Las Vegas Arts Center's annual outdoor Jazz Festival will feature the Joe Darro Quintet and Calvin "Eagle Eye" Shields and his Big Band, from noon-4 p.m. Saturday in its amphitheatre, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. Call 229-4800.
