Joe Delaney remembers 1987: Loggins, McDonald at Aladdin

Friday, March 23, 2001 | 10:03 a.m.

Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald were a dynamite combination, performing together in the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts in 1987, a sold-out show. The Aladdin Theatre was the sole surviving structure when the Aladdin hotel was imploded in the mid 1990s. Loggins supplied his voice to several movie soundtracks in the 1980s, including "Caddyshack," "Footloose" and "Top Gun." McDonald was singer and keyboardist for the Doobie Brothers, singing on some of its biggest hits. Both are active solo performers today. McDonald headlined at the Las Vegas Hilton earlier this month, and Loggins performs there in April.
