Springfield appears
Rick Springfield, singer/songwriter and star of "EFX Alive" at the MGM Grand, will meet fans and sign copies of his new disc, "Rick Springfield: The Greatest Hits ... Alive," from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Virgin Megastore at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
African rhythms
Dr. Rochelle Clark will tell stories of Africa for children, ages 2-12, from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. Call 229-4800.
Literary women
In celebration of Women's History Month, Daphne Young, associate editor of Red Rock Review, will discuss "Literary Women and Their Place in History" at 3 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 567 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson.
Card game tour
The Dragon Ball Z collectible card game kicks off its second National Mall Tour from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at the Boluevard mall. Prizes will be distributed and voice actors from the animated series based on the game will be on hand. Admission is free.
Benefit event
"Kite Day 2001," a benefit for the new Elise L. Wolff Elementary School, will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Sonata Park in Henderson. Students can make kites, and the public is invited to bring their kites. Awards will be presented for the Highest Flying Kite, Best Kite Tail and Longest Flying Kite, among others. Call 897-7000.

Theatre in the Valley is holding auditions for Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit" from 7-10 p.m. Monday and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 S. Harris St. in Henderson. Auditions are open to women ages 20 to 40, and men ages 35 to 65. Call 558-7275.
Auditions for musicians, ages 16 to 21, for the August Young Artist Recital Series will be held by appointment only, through April 28 at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center. Call 229-6211.
