Letter: Pay raises show injustice in city
Friday, March 16, 2001 | 10:14 a.m.
When I read the article about county pay raises, it made me wonder how much injustice can there be.
A bill pending in the Legislature would give county elected officials big pay raises. For instance, salaries for members of the Clark County Commission would go from $54,000 to $75,000 if the legislation passes.
They now get enough money, but like the old saying: "The more you get, the more you want."
The people on fixed incomes (Social Security) receive a little raise and they have to be satisfied with what they get.
Yes, I know people who are on Social Security can work and receive all they work for. But some cannot work after 65 years old. Why? Because some are handicapped or have other health reasons.
