Columnist Steve Addy: Indiana’s loss not the same sans Bobby
Friday, March 16, 2001 | 10:55 a.m.
Sun basketball writer Steve Addy will be filing daily postcards from NCAA Tournament sites.
Greetings from San Diego:
Come back, Bobby Knight. All is forgiven.
Did you hear the news? Indiana made another fast exit from the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, losing to Kent State 77-73 in the West Regional. But they can't blame this one on Mr. Red Sweater.
While Knight was down in Lubbock, Tex., trying to rustle himself a job, the Hoosiers found a way to lose in the first round for the fifth time in seven years. It just wasn't as much fun as when Knight did it.
Nobody flung a chair. No courtside telephones were sacrificed. No one brought a bullwhip to the arena or lectured the media during a goofy press conference monologue.
Gee, I kinda miss the old lug. But that's easy for me to say, because I don't cover Texas Tech. Hoopily yours,
-- Addy
