Letter: Wrong people getting benefit of tax cuts
Wednesday, March 14, 2001 | 9:27 a.m.
If President Bush really intended to cut taxes in order to give the economy a kick-start, he would have given it to the mass of Americans, not a few wealthy clients who already have all the possessions they can use.
The likely destination of most of their tax savings is the stock market, where it will find its way to big corporations that build factories in countries where labor is cheapest, not in the United States.
Of course, a goodly sum will find its way into the campaign coffers of conservative Republication congressmen, the reason Bush shows little enthusiasm for Sen. John McCain's election reform bill.
