Weekly racing series to open at The Bullring

The Bullring starts its NASCAR Weekly Racing Series on Saturday.
The NASCAR Weekly racing series runs through September with 16 weeks of racing. There are six divisions: Outlaw Stocks, Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, Legends, Chargers and Bandoleros.
"With all the construction coming to an end, we're very excited about getting the weekly racing series under way," said director of short-track events at LVMS David Stetzer. "With the new grandstand and fun activities planned every week, it should be a great season for everyone -- fans and teams."
An added attraction for the season-opener is "car fishing." Contestants will have a 20-foot nylon rope tied to their car's rear bumper, with a tire decorated as a fishing lure on the other end of the rope.
Cars will then "race" around The Bullring and attempt to run over the other cars' tires. The last car with to complete a lap with their "lure" still intact and attached to the rope wins.
Door prizes have been donated by Universal Studios and will include calendars from the new movie "The Fast and the Furious."
Spectator gates open at 4 p.m., qualifying begins at 5, heats at 6 and the 10-lap Thunder Roadster event, scheduled for 7:05, kicks off the evening's races.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and military and $3 for children 6-12. Children under 6 are free.
