LOS ANGELES -- Southern California racer Mark Post has drawn the first starting position for the upcoming 15th Annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 desert race.
Racing in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division in a Ford F 150, Post will lead the field into the challenging desert in Baja California, Mexico. Round 2 of the 2001 Duralast SCORE Desert Series will be held March 17.
Among the 185 vehicles which entered in time for the computerized drawing on Feb. 23, were 16 from Nevada, including 14 from Southern Nevada.
When final pre-race registration is complete, nearly 225 entries, competing in 23 classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs, are expected to take the green flag on March 17.
Motorcycles, with the Class 22 American Honda XR650 of factory racers Steve Hengeveld and Jonah Street first off the line, will begin at 6 a.m. The car/truck classes will leave the starting line, one vehicle every 30 seconds, at 7:30 a.m., with a 10-hour time limit.
