Story: Thousands of Chinese soccer fans rampaged Sunday through the streets of Peking, attacking foreigners, overturning cars and smashing windows after their national team lost a World Cup zone match to Hong Kong.

June 13: Hijackings end; hostages safe

Story: Five Shiite Moslems, who hijacked a Jordanian airliner, freed 67 hostages at Beirut airport, blew up the jet and fled Wednesday, ending a 30-hour ordeal.

July 14: Nations join in song for African famine aid

Story: More than 160,000 rock fans, sweltering in the summer heat on two continents, packed stadiums in London and Philadelphia Saturday at simultaneous concerts in a 16-hour extravaganza televised worldwide that raised $40 million for African famine relief.

Sept. 1: 'Night Stalker' suspect caught

Story: Police in Los Angeles Saturday arrested the alleged "Night Stalker," accused of 16 murders and two dozen other brutal assaults, taking him into custody after he was captured and beaten by angry citizens who grabbed him on a city street.
