Letter: Judicial system has some gaps
Friday, March 9, 2001 | 8:57 a.m.
Now along comes Donte Johnson, convicted last year of murdering four young men in a drug deal. He's sentenced to death and sent to death row at Ely.
So why does he suddenly appear at the Clark County jail (brought there at taxpayer expense, of course), where he pushes another inmate off a balcony? He's here to stand trial for attempted murder. What's going to happen if he's convicted? Will he get a 10-year sentence? Does he have to serve that after he's been executed?
No wonder he pushed the guy off the balcony. He's got nothing to lose.
Too bad I won't meet you, Donte. I'm going to heaven when I die. I wonder where you'll be going?
