Five UNLV students in NCAA Championships

Five Rebels have earned a trip to the 2001 NCAA Swimming Championships.

Lorena Diaconescu, a junior from Bucharest, Romania, will participate in three different freestyle events in next week's competition. Diaconescu qualified in the 100 free (49.43), 200 free (1:46.59) and 500 free (4:49.53). She is the No. 8 seed in the 200 free and the No. 11 seed in the 100 free.

The women compete from March 15-17 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Long Island, N.Y.

UNLV's Piotr Krzyskow, Andrew Livingston, Jacint Simon and Garrett Wood will all participate in the men's championship.

Men's competition will take place from March 22-24 in College Station, Texas.
