Crime briefs for March 9, 2001

Metro Police have charged a man incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center with the homicide of a 29-year-old woman found dead in a hotel room in January.
David Alvarez, 26, already in custody for a probation violation, has been rebooked on charges of murder and robbery with a deadly weapon and sexual assault, police said.
Julie Savery was found dead in a motel room in the 800 block of Fremont Street Jan. 31.
Leader charged
Metro Police have arrested a Boy Scout scoutmaster in connection with 76 counts of lewdness with a minor under 14.
Police arrested William Osborne Shope Feb. 26 on lewdness charges involving a 10-year-old and 14-year-old.
