Lanni named CEO of LV gaming giant

MGM MIRAGE Chairman J. Terrance Lanni has assumed the added title of chief executive officer, the company said.
Lanni held that position for MGM Grand Inc. when he temporarily retired as the day-to-day operator of the company in October 1999, but was lured back by the challenge of leading the $6.4 billion merger of MGM Grand and Mirage Resorts Inc. in early 2000, company spokesman Alan Feldman said.
Daniel Wade was named vice chairman of MGM MIRAGE and John Redmond was named president and CEO of MGM Grand Resorts.
"These new titles do not indicate any changes in the responsibilities of our senior management team," Lanni said in a company statement. "However, they better reflect our actual operational structure since last year's acquisition of Mirage Resorts.
MGM MIRAGE shares, which trade on the New York Stock Exchange, were at $27.22 in mid-day trading today, up from Wednesday's close of $26.66 per share.
