Mikohn Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas sued a former finance director, alleging he embezzled more than $51,840.
In a Clark County District Court suit, Mikohn sued Gregory Edward Stecher, alleging he "fraudulently and criminally assumed dominion and control over monies" that were to be paid to Mikohn's vendors between May 1999 and May 2000.
The suit said Stecher converted $37,500 of Mikohn's money to his personal use by authorizing a check for that sum to be paid to an alleged fictitious entity called Corporate Solutions, which has false telephone numbers and a post office box.
Stecher was also accused of misappropriating Mikohn's funds as alleged reimbursements for an allegedly non-existent budget software program and three seminars for which he allegedly didn't attend.
Steve Wolfson, Stecher's attorney, declined comment on the allegations but said, "We're confident that we will be able to resolve the matter in the near future."
