Thursday, March 8, 2001 | 10:36 a.m.
Through the government studies program Close Up, 82 students and teachers from Boulder City, Las Vegas, Rancho and Foothill high schools are in Washington, D.C., for a "close up" look at Washington politics.
Participants meet and exchange ideas with congressional leaders, political advisers, journalists and other Washington insiders. Scheduled daily activities include current issue debates and opportunities to tour the city.
Close Up educates students on the democratic process and encourages stronger participation in American politics. For more information, call: (800) CLOSE UP or (800) 256-7387.
