AMEC Earth & Environmental of Las Vegas will cease to operate after its acquisition today by San Diego-based U.S. Laboratories Inc. and AMEC's 10 workers will join the buyer's Las Vegas subsidiary, Testing Engineers Nevada.
U.S. Laboratories is a quality control specialist for the construction, architectural, environmental and engineering industries.
The combined Las Vegas entity, which will have 30 workers, will operate under the name Testing Engineers Nevada, and add more workers over the next six to 12 months, said Rudy Miller, U.S. Laboratories' spokesman.
"The Las Vegas area is one of the most dynamic growth areas. We have a subsidiary in New Jersey that services many casinos in the New Jersey market, so we have some kinship to gaming industry. That's why Las Vegas is an excellent choice," he said.
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
