Teacher arrested in sex offense case
Wednesday, March 7, 2001 | 10:38 a.m.
A Clark County teacher was arrested Tuesday after being accused of a sex offense.
Duane C. Johnson, 36, was booked into the Clark County jail on one count of lewdness with a minor under 14. He was released at about 6:30 a.m. today on bail, jail officials said.
Johnson is the fifth school employee accused of inappropriate contact with students in little more than a month.
Johnson, a teacher with Clark County since August 1993, was teaching at Child Haven, the county's shelter for abused and neglected children. The school system provides teachers for the three-room school inside the shelter, school officials said.
The nature of the allegations against Johnson were not available this morning. Metro Police sexual assault unit investigated the allegations and arrested Johnson Tuesday.
Since February three other teachers and another school employee have been charged with sexual misconduct with students.
