Agassi, Sampras out of Arizona tournament

Las Vegan Andre Agassi saw what happened to Pete Sampras, and still couldn't keep it from happening to him.
Underdogs knocked out the two biggest attractions in the Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic at Scottsdale, Ariz. Hours after the top-seeded Sampras fell to Andrew Ilie 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4, Francisco Clavet stunned No. 2 Agassi, a three-time Scottsdale champion, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 7-5.
Fourth-seeded Lleyton Hewitt, the defending champion, beat David Sanchez 6-1, 6-3, and No. 7 Marcelo Rios beat Adrian Voinea 7-6 (4), 6-2.
Harel Levy stopped Dusan Vemic 6-3, 7-6 (2), and German Puentes eliminated Michel Kratochvil 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in other matches.
