Noteworthy: Three-year varsity starter; two-year member of Sun all-state first team; led Huskies in scoring, assists while helping team to 24-7 record, Sierra Division title and appearance in 4A State Tournament; signed early with Yale.
Said Huskies coach Dave Christiansen: "The thing I was most pleased about with Alex was he gave up a lot of his scoring to try to make some of the other players better."
Bishop Gorman, 6-2, Junior
Statistics: 14 ppg, 4 spg
Noteworthy: Spearheaded Gaels' defensive attack; led Gorman to Southwest Division and Sunset Region titles, appearance in 4A state championship game for second straight year; projected as Nevada's top college prospect next season.
Said Gaels coach Bob Hubbard: "C.J. was the glue that held us together. He had unbelievable anticipation defensively, and he always did the things you needed to win."
Valley, 6-3, Senior
Statistics: 24 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 4 spg
Noteworthy: Two-year varsity starter; tallied 30 or more points four times this year; helped Vikings into Sunrise Region Tournament; being pursued by several Division I schools.
Said Vikings coach Darryl Branham: "He picked it up in all areas this year. His rebounding was a key for us, and he has a knack for scoring."
Western, 6-5, Senior
Statistics: 15 ppg, 12 rpg
Noteworthy: Two-year varsity starter; led Warriors to school's first 4A state championship since 1990; scored 30 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in state tournament; signed to play football at Pac-10 power Oregon.
Said Warriors coach Tony Hopkins: "Tim just loved to compete, and players like that are special. His athletic ability stood out, and he worked to make himself a tremendous player."
Bishop Gorman, 6-10, Senior
Statistics: 13 ppg, 9 rpg, 2.2 bpg
Noteworthy: Three-year varsity starter; two-year member of Sun all-state first team; led Gaels in rebounding, blocks while helping team to Southwest Division and Sunset Region titles and appearance in 4A state championship; coaches' Sunset Region Player of the Year; signed early with Colorado.
Said Gaels coach Bob Hubbard: "I don't think anybody could really guard him. I always wanted our offense to work from the inside-out, and on the days we did that we were a very good basketball team."
Las Vegas
Noteworthy: In what was expected to be a rebuilding season after losing all five starters from last year's team, Beskow took the Wildcats back to the 4A State Tournament, where they reached the semifinals.
