Friday, March 2, 2001 | 8:35 a.m.
Hank was passionate on the subject of civil rights and worked tirelessly with leaders of the black community to insure better job opportunities, better housing and social equality.

To members of Dr. West's family, we want them to know that conditions have improved over the years because of him. There is still room for improvement and new generations have been shown the way by those early pioneers for justice.
