Agency helps more than 300 disabled

Goodwill of Southern Nevada helped more than 370 people with disabilities last year, the nonprofit agency has announced.

The group offers work adjustment training, job placement services and lessons on public transportation for disabled clients. Real work environments are used for training sessions in order to effectively prepare trainees.

Group selects its new officers

The Business Watch Network, a nonprofit group that educates people in crime prevention and public safety, recently elected a new board of directors.

The new officers are President Judy Robinson of Highway Stations, Vice President Steve McMurray of Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Secretary Carrol Noonan of Western Risk Insurance, Treasurer Brenda Lovato of Triangle Communities and Executive Director Carolyn Muse Grant of Creative Management Group.

New directors are Michael Ault of the Metro Police, consultant Arnie Adamsen, Paula Brown of Excel Communications, Constable Bobby Gronauer, Jeff Haas of Spartan Health Foods, County Commissioner Erin Kenny, Steven Lemond of Absolute Insurance, Jeff Morgan of 7-Eleven Inc., John Terranova of Terra Nova Inc., Marian Thomas of Trauma Intervention Program, Marc Weiwasser of Navengante Search and Paul Workman of BankWest of Nevada.

Agency honors 10 employees

The Society for Range Management recognized 10 Bureau of Land Management employees for their restoration work in Nevada's Great Basin after 1.6 million acres burned in 1999.

Awarded employees are Bob Abbey, Pat Murphy, Wilma Robinson, Louise Ann Greathead, William R. Brigham, Mike Zielinski, Duane Crimmins, Jack Hamby, Ray Lister and Tom Warren.

Immunizations

Health District immunization clinics are open each week in and around Las Vegas. Immunizations are free to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of three public health centers and 35 immunization clinics. The following clinics will be open through March 6:

RAVENHOLT PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

NORTH LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 1820 E. Lake Mead, Suite F, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

GREEN VALLEY CLINIC: Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Friday.
