The U.S. Department of Transportation has fined Aloha Airlines for using deceptive advertising practices on a promotion for flights between Las Vegas and Hawaii.
Honolulu-based Aloha was fined $10,000 for failing to disclose taxes and passenger facility charges on its $99 flights. A spokeswoman for the company said the additional taxes and fees added about $30 to the fare.
The company began offering one-stop service from McCarran International Airport and Honolulu and Maui last month and also offered $77 round-trip flights between Las Vegas and Oakland, Calif.
Aloha on May 1 will add one-stop service from Las Vegas to Honolulu through Orange County, Calif.'s John Wayne Airport.
