LV passenger counts up again in May

Double-digit percentage increases in the number of passengers served by Southwest, America West and National airlines boosted the number of people using McCarran International Airport by 3.7 percent in May over last year.
The airport announced today that 3.21 million people used the airport in May, up from the 3.09 million reported for the same month a year ago.
Las Vegas-based National, which is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, reported a 33.4 percent increase in the number of passengers served, to 213,499. America West's counts were up 26.3 percent to 561,411 and Southwest was up 10.6 percent to 959,334.
For the first five months of 2001, McCarran's passenger totals are up 5.4 percent to 15.78 million.
