Manpower chief honored by group
Andy Katz, president of Manpower Inc. of Southern Nevada, was honored with the From the Heart Award from Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada, which provides services for families affected by abuse, neglect and violence.
Manpower Inc., the world's leading staffing firm, provides employment and training in technology, engineering, accounting, finance, and telecommunications.
Spanish language camp to benefit
Linda Goodman, principal of Estes McDoniel Elementary School in Henderson, was awarded a $7,500 teacher grant from the National Geography Society Education Foundation.
The money will go toward a weeklong Spanish language camp this summer, in which students will participate in social, academic, and cultural activities.
Clark County Cultural Program Supervisor Diane Bush was awarded a $5,000 Artist's Fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council.
Bush, a fine arts photographer, won the award for her piece entitled "Talking Pictures," a series of multimedia pieces that incorporate a still image and sound.
Joseph Mott, 17, of Las Vegas
recently earned the distinction of Eagle Scout from the Boulder Dam Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
