Tulane’s Schlossnagle added to UNLV’s list

Jim Schlossnagle of Tulane has been added to the handful of finalists for the UNLV baseball coaching job, the Sun has learned.
Schlossnagle, who has served eight seasons as Tulane's associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, is regarded as one of the top coaching prospects in college baseball. In January, Baseball America listed him among 10 assistants ready to be head coach of a major program.
With Schlossnagle directing the Green Waves' pitching staff, Tulane compiled a 56-13 record and reached the College World Series this season. Tulane's staff has ranked among Conference USA's top two in ERA since Schlossnagle's arrival from Clemson in 1994.
UNLV began interviewing finalists this week. They include Nino Giarratano, University of San Francisco head coach; Dan Canevari, LSU assistant; Vince Beringhele, UCLA assistant; Rodger Fairless, former coach at Green Valley and Valley high schools; and Brian Whitaker, Silverado High School.
