Letter: Keep post office in plans for downtown area

If it's not broke, don't fix it!
It's time for Mayor Oscar Goodman to take a reality check. Has he ever compared the price of mailing anything from a post office or the additional cost in a so-called "convenience is us" center in or near a supermarket?
The letter-perfect mayor seems infatuated with culture and all that jazz. Rather than coming across as a big bad wolf to seniors and all those in desperate need of the downtown post office, I propose he let the cat out of the bag and inform us about the plans for a new CAT transportation center. Didn't they just spend a mint re-modernizing it?
Why not include a post office for the same location? The fastest way to develop downtown is to throw everything out of the window. Begin with the redevelopment commissars, and let free enterprise run its course, especially when they are willing to spend their own money and keep their hands out of our pockets.
Thanks, but no thanks to Sens. Harry Reid and John Ensign for their help in having the downtown post office building declared surplus. As far as the mayor's concerned: Keep on dreaming for the rest of your term!
