Newspaper alleges attorney violated its copyright

The Las Vegas Sun sued Nancy Quon, an attorney specializing in construction defect litigation, alleging she infringed upon the newspaper's copyright when she used its artwork in a mailing.

The Sun seeks a court order to stop Quon, an attorney with the law firm of Mainor and Harris, from copying and using the Sun's copyrighted graphic of a house accompanying two articles on construction defect issues for her firm's commercial use.

The graphic, which shows where potential construction problems can exist in homes, appeared in the May 14, 2000, edition of the newspaper.

Quon could not be reached for comment.

Zions stock added to index

SALT LAKE CITY -- Zions Bancorporation, operator of Nevada State Bank and other regional banks in the West, said its stock was added to the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.

Zions was added to the S&P 500 GICS Banks sub-industry group and the Banks (Major Regional) industry group.

"We are honored to be included as a component of the index that is widely recognized as a key benchmark for U.S. stock market performance," said Chief Executive Harris Simmons.

Since many investors buy index funds tied to the S&P 500, the addition of Zions to the index may boost demand for Zions stock.
