51s belt seven homers in win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Las Vegas 51s (37-42) tied a franchise single-game record with seven home runs en route to a 15-7 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (32-43) on Monday night at Sky Sox Stadium.
Third baseman Phil Hiatt, who led the PCL in home runs in 2000 as a member of the Sky Sox, and center fielder Chris Prieto both hit two homers for the 51s and red-hot Angel Pena hit a grand slam, his fifth homer in eight games since being demoted by the Dodgers to Las Vegas.
Shortstop Keith Johnson and left fielder Bruce Aven also homered for the 51s, who won three out of four games against the Sky Sox. It was the first time all season that Rick Sofield's squad has won a road series.
The seven home runs tied the team record set on Aug. 9, 1994, against the Phoenix Firebirds.
Hiatt also flew out deep to the fence in left in the seventh inning; so the 51s missed breaking the record by inches.
Lefty Eddie Priest (4-5) benefited from the offensive explosion as he picked up the win despite allowing 10 hits and six earned runs in just five innings.
