Las Vegas' Rob MacCachren continues to lead the overall point standings after the recent Tecate SCORE Baja 500.
MacCachren, a second-generation Southern Nevada desert racer, has won Class 1-2/1600 in his VW-powered Fraley race car twice so far, marking his first SCORE races in the 1600cc class since his rookie season in 1983.
At the 33rd Baja 500 on June 2, MacCachren finished second in the class, which featured 18 out of 249 total starters. SCORE points are determined both on final finishing position and number of vehicles which started the race within the individual class.
Returning to the glory of their historic victory in last November's once-in-a-lifetime Tecate SCORE Baja 2000, David Ashley/Dan Smith are leading the points in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division in their Duralast Ford F-150.
Among the other class point leaders after the Baja 500 are: Daniel Fresh (Class 7S, Jeep Comanche); George Seeley Jr. and Michael James (tied in Class 5, VW Baja Bug); Allan Gregory (Class 5/1600, VW Baja Bug); Richard Hoffman (Protruck/SS/Truck, Ford F-150); Dennis Boyle (SCORE Lite, Mirage); John Griffin, (Stock Full, AM General Hummer); Dr. Macrae Glass, (Stock Mini, Ford Ranger); Clive Skilton, Steve Hengeveld, (Class 22, Honda XR650 motorcycle); and John Gregory (Class 25, Honda ATV).
