Letter: Veterans fed up with runaround
Friday, June 22, 2001 | 3:52 a.m.
Timothy McVeigh, a disgruntled veteran, misdirected his anger against the federal government in a horrible way.
I dare say there are tens of thousands of vets who are angry at the government for the despicable way in which they are treated, and it is not the fault of Veterans Affairs.
The problem lies with the Congress, 85-90 percent of whose members never wore the uniform of our services, so they just plain do not care. Their main concern is their own self-service, and their party! One example: I had been told for many years I did not have service-connected dental problems, which in turn cost me several thousand dollars.
I had been lied to for years. My records were burned up, etc. etc. etc.
I obtained my complete record through the Freedom of Information Act. Guess what sat right near the top of the pile of papers? Right, my service-connected dental. But still no treatment! Go here, go there, see him, see her, please die, or at least go away.
