Former teacher was found with victim

A former high school teacher awaiting sentencing for having sexual relations with a student was re-arrested Wednesday when a judge learned police caught him with his victim.

Jeremy Green, 27, was released on his own recognizance in May after he pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory sexual seduction of the student and one count of open and gross lewdness with another underage girl, who was not his student.

The former Mojave High School teacher is scheduled to be sentenced by District Judge Sally Loehrer on July 18. He faces one to five years in prison on each of the sexual seduction charges and a one-year sentence on the lewdness count.

A typical condition of release is that defendants are not to have contact with their victims.

Deputy District Attorney Mary Kay Holthus said she informed District Judge Joseph Bonaventure Wednesday that police arrested Green early Monday morning on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police saw Green and the 15-year-old girl leaving a desert area in a car, Holthus said. Green told police that the girl had been pestering him and called him that night in an extremely distraught state, Holthus said. He admitted using poor judgment in meeting with her, she said.

"I don't have any indication that they were having sex or doing anything other than talking," Holthus said.

Bonaventure is filling in for Loehrer while Loehrer is at a conference. She is expected to decide Monday if Green should remain in jail.
