Mothers to get tips on business
The Marketing and Business Development Corp. will conduct seminars to help mothers wanting to re-enter the workforce. Mompreneurship I, designed to help the first-time and the experienced mom-entrepreneur will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mompreneurship II, focusing on marketing at-home businesses for little or no cost, runs 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Both seminars will be at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson. Dads are also welcomed. For more information, call 450-5885.
Benefit golf event scheduled on Sunday
The Las Vegas Branch of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will hold its first "Links for Leukemia" golf tournament, with registration at 12:30 p.m. and a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start Sunday at the Badlands Golf Club, 9119 Alta Drive.
The tournament will be a scramble format with gross and net divisions. Awards will be given for first and second place, the longest drive, closest to the pin, and a hole-in-one.

Learn about our nocturnal visitors
"The Bats Around Us, Getting to Know Your Neighbors," is a program being presented 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive.
The presentation is part of an ongoing educational summer outreach program sponsored by Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Additional programs are scheduled for July 5, 6 and 7; Aug. 5 and Sept. 1 and 2.
The public is welcome
to a free slide presentation on the desert tortoise, "What is Going on at the Desert Tortoise Conservation Center?" 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park. For more information, call 739-8043.
The Romanian American Society
of Las Vegas will hold its annual gala, "Doina," beginning with cocktails at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at the Luxor. The speaker will be Lia Roberts, honorary consul of Romania. For reservations call 376-2961.
