LAKE MEAD: Good fishing for largemouth and striped bass continues to be found in the Overton Arm while the action for stripers tapered off over the weekend in the Boulder Basin, according to the Nevada Division of Wildlife.

The better success for largemouth bass has been coming from just beyond the Virgin River narrows in the Overton Arm. Stripers are being caught above Overton Beach Marina, above Echo Bay Marina and from shore near Echo Bay's lower campground. About the only recent success to come from the Boulder Basin has been for stripers at Boulder Beach and Black Island.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Rainbow trout fishing has been fair while the action for largemouth bass has been improving as water temperatures rise. Water temperatures at Cold Spring and Haymeadow reservoirs are 64 degrees while Adams-McGill Reservoir is 68.

Conditions are dry and dusty with daytime temperatures hitting the high 80s to low 90s. Dana Johnson, installation supervisor, cautions campers to be careful with campfires because of the dry conditions.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Rainbow trout fishing has been fair to good recently, despite an increasing problem with weed growth in the lake. Shore anglers are now concentrating their efforts from the fishing dock and dam. Boaters are able to avoid the weeds and are having good luck by fishing in the lake's upper end.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: The big news coming from the lake came in the form of a 7 1/2-pound largemouth bass that was caught Saturday afternoon by an angler from Utah. Ranger Ben Johnson said big bass are typically pulled from the lake during the first two weeks in June. Last June a fisherman caught 8 3/ 4-pound bass, which was a lake record.

Fishing has slowed for trout while a few crappie and a good number of small largemouth bass have been caught during the past week.

WHITE PINE COUNTY RESERVOIRS: Following a fairly slow spring, fishing has finally picked up for rainbow trout at Comins Lake, which is located along U.S. 93 south of Ely. Powerbait and worms are working for shore anglers while boaters are having success by tossing spinners in open water near tules. Cave Lake continues to provide good action for stocked rainbow trout. The lake, southeast of Ely, is being stocked with rainbows once monthly through the summer months from NDOW's Gallagher Hatchery.

Illipah Reservoir, located west of Ely off U.S. 50, has been red hot for stocked rainbow trout. Holdover trout that range from 15 to 17 inches are being caught as well. Powerbait and worms work from shore while boaters are still fishing with the baits and trolling with spinners.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS: Channel catfish were stocked into Sunset Park Pond, Lorenzi Park Pond and Floyd Lamb State Park on June 6 (please be reminded that the use of anchovies for bait is against regulations). Anglers at Floyd Lamb State Park have been successfull for bluegill and green sunfish using night crawlers and mealworms.
